A post by a woman on the question and answer site Quora about whether it is wrong for her to sleep naked with her year-old son has been viewed more than half a million times and left visitors to the site overwhelmingly shocked. The mother posed the question: Is it wrong for me a mother to sleep naked with my year-old son? You could possibly be arrested for child indecency and put into prison and be forced to register as a sex offender. Even if it's not a sexual act, optics in this case would matter. Just put some damn jammies on or sleep in separate rooms. Another mother said that her son would be humiliated to even sleep in the same room as her, let alone naked in the same bed. He used to love sleeping beside me when he was 5 but he grew out of that soon after.

Rheta Leanne Melvin, 36, has been charged with luring a minor, online sexual corruption of a child, sexual abuse, sodomy, rape and contributing to the sexual delinquency of a minor. Because she asked if it was inappropriate - or unacceptable - for her to sleep naked with her sixteen year old son. The anonymous poster opened the debate on the site, saying: "Is it wrong for me a mother to sleep naked with my 16 year old son? Several responders gave lengthy answers to the post, accusing the woman of bordering on incest and putting her son in an incredibly awkward situation whilst he goes through puberty. The authenticity of the question has not been verified, but it certainly sparked outrage and healthy debate amongst Quora users. One woman even went so far as to suggest that the mother asking the question should be on the sex offenders register. User Chic Mendoza suggested the mother was posing the question nine years too late, as it becomes inappropriate once a child reaches school age. A man named Gauthum answered the question with shock, saying: "I don't understand your intention in sleeping with your son, naked. But, once a son crosses the teen age he starts to develop strong feelings towards girls.
I see no reason to be secretive about a body, which is just a body like many other bodies. I took one of my sons to the sauna, we walked around naked between a whole lot of other people also walking around naked. And last year when my son was here, 23 years old, and he needed a towel when I still was in bed? I came naked out of bed, walked naked to the cupboard where we keep the towels, and walked into the bathroom where I gave him his towel while we both were naked. The earth did not shatter, nor did civilization. Think about that for a while. Because you're just making it really easy for your kids to get preyed upon.
